Week 13: Regular Season Finale — Upsets, One-Point Thrillers, and a District Preview

2026-03-01

That's a wrap on the regular season. 83 STL area games this week, 69 of them STL vs STL. And the final week did not disappoint.

Upset of the Week: Orchard Farm Stuns St. Dominic

Orchard Farm 70, #6 St. Dominic 59

St. Dominic came in at 22-3 and looked like a lock for a deep postseason run. Orchard Farm had other ideas. The Eagles won by 11 in a convincing upset. Orchard Farm (21-4) has been one of the most underrated teams in the area all year — this win puts everyone on notice heading into districts.

CBC Sends a Message

Christian Brothers College 60, #9 Westminster Christian Academy 55

CBC showed what they're capable of when they're locked in. Taking down a 21-win Westminster squad by five is the kind of result that could spark a postseason run. The MCC schedule has battle-tested this team — don't sleep on CBC in districts.

Lafayette Knocks Off Francis Howell Central

Lafayette (Wildwood) 66, #8 Francis Howell Central 61

Francis Howell Central came in at 22-4, but Lafayette won by five. The Lancers have had an inconsistent season, but this is a quality win to close the regular season on. FHC will need to regroup quickly with districts starting Monday.

One-Point Thrillers

Potosi 77, Hillsboro 76 — A rivalry game decided by a single point. Potosi (19-5) has been rock-solid all season, and they needed every bit of it to survive Hillsboro. This is the kind of game that prepares you for March.

Vianney 44, Christian Brothers College 43 — The Griffins edged CBC by one in a defensive grind. Vianney is 21-5 and knows how to win ugly. That matters in the postseason.

By the Numbers

The top of the RPI tells an interesting story heading into districts:

  • Vashon leads the STL area at 18-3, averaging 68.4 points per game with a +19.2 scoring margin. The Wolverines' RPI is driven by quality wins — including that 71-54 demolition of De Smet.
  • Principia (25-2) is right behind at #2, putting up 75.3 ppg and winning by an average of 24.7 points. The Panthers have dominated their schedule — districts will be the first real test against top competition.
  • De Smet Jesuit (21-5) has the third-best RPI thanks to a brutal schedule. Their 15.1-point average margin of victory is impressive given the quality of opponents.
  • Chaminade College Prep (21-4) is quietly dangerous at #4. The Red Devils average 75.4 ppg and their losses came against elite competition. The MCC gauntlet has them battle-ready.

Sleeper Alert: John Burroughs

John Burroughs 40, Lindbergh 37 — Burroughs held Lindbergh to 37 points. That's elite defense from a team that doesn't get a lot of attention. Keep an eye on them.

District Preview

Districts start March 3rd. A few things to watch:

  • Class 6 is loaded. De Smet, Chaminade, St. Dominic, Marquette, and Francis Howell Central are all capable of making runs. Someone good is going home early.
  • Class 5 features MICDS, Vianney, Webster Groves, and Westminster. That's a murderer's row.
  • Vashon (Class 4) is the top-ranked team in the area with the best RPI. Their strength of schedule is elite — that De Smet win anchors the whole resume.
  • Principia (Class 3) is 25-2 and has been dominant all season. Districts will show if the record holds up against postseason intensity.

Good luck to all 118 STL area teams. The real season starts now.
